I spent a wonderful day yesterday visiting with my Aunt Chris and cousins Sarah and Diana in Fredericksburg, Va. I waited too late to get a very good picture, but you can still see how lovely and happy all three of the girls are. They were so gracious and hospitable to their Florida cousin. We had coffee (twice!) at Hyperion, and a delicious lunch at La Petite Auberge. Fredericksburg is very charming, as are all of their homes. I hope to convince Chris and the girls to visit Swamp Cottage soon so I can show them some north Florida hospitality.
I FINALLY finished this sweater for Ellen. I am too embarassed to say how long I have been working on this. It is from Phildar Ete 2004, knit in Phil Ruban, which they don't even make anymore, and I knit and and reknit it so many times that there was serious doubt that I would have enough ribbon to finish. I sure hope it fits! Here's a detail of the neckline. The color is truer in this one also. It's called cassis.
I spent 12/30/05 at Torreya State Park and woke up New Year's Eve morning to a have delicious breakfast al fresco. A small group of Georgia Wilderness Society folks were camped nearby and I invited myself to join them on a hike. There was some confusion about which way was North. Ron and Bonnie had a hearty discussion about it, and finally decided to simply follow the trail markers. A wise decision. It was a great hike and a fine day.
